Fiona Gilligan, MSW, RSW is a Clinical Trauma Therapist & Trainer with over 25yrs of experience working with individuals and communities affected by trauma.
In 1994, Fiona founded the Trauma Management Group which under her leadership (1994-2007) became a leading Canadian provider of Trauma Counselling, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and Group Crisis & Trauma Training. In 2001, Fiona authored one of Canada’s first independent CISM models, Critical Incident Stress Management: From Theory to Practice which continues to be used to train mental health (peer and professional) communities and is recognized towards accreditation by The Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists (ATSS). Fiona was a contributor to Creating Excellence in Crisis Care (Hoff, Adamowski, 1995).
Fiona’s clinical interests are working with those affected by crisis and trauma (historic and / or current), and she specializes in working with Military, Veterans, Police, Fire and Paramedic Communities (EMS).
Fiona practices from a wholistic framework and utilizes the clinical modalities of Psychotherapy (trauma based), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Mindfulness-Based Therapies (MBT).
Fiona balances her clinical practice with clinical training and is often called upon by First Responder Groups and Mental Health Agencies to train their Mental Health Teams.
