Dr. Andrew Burr is a clinical psychologist who provides psychological services to adults (19 years and older). He works with a wide variety of adult issues, including trauma and PTSD, different types of anxiety (panic, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder), mood problems such as depression, adjustment to loss and change, and coping with transitions and problems of everyday living. For five years (2011-2016) Dr. Burr also worked as a clinical supervisor at the Centre for Psychological Services and Research (CPSR) at the University of Ottawa.
For trauma-related difficulties, Dr. Burr offers two approaches: EMDR and Brain Spotting. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma-related issues. Brain Spotting is a more recent development in the trauma field which emerged out of EMDR.
Brain Spotting locates points in the visual field that help to access unprocessed trauma in the sub-cortical brain.
